Cigarette smoke odor cleaning tips and application instructions for removing smoke smells.

  • The DuroBlaster, Fogmaster Jr., or our other Battery Operated Sprayers are the best way to apply Nok-Out especially when the whole room and its contents are affected by smoke odors. The fine mist of the fogger will penetrate much faster, and is a more immediate and effective application system for longstanding and long-lasting odors. An alternate, but acceptable method, is to apply Nok-Out with a clean pump-up garden sprayer.  This procedure will also present a fine mist, which is needed for airborne odor removal.  While either method is successful for an area that has airborne odors, and both will work well, the fogging system of the Electronic Sprayers. will certainly save time and energy.
  • Spray Nok-Out into the air-intake filter of your air conditioning system, (if in your vehicle) dampening the entire surface of the filter with NOK-OUT. Repeat daily for one week for permanent odor removal. For home heating and airconditioning systems, on a clean filter, spray/dampen with Nok-Out, and if possible, spray into the ductwork at that site.  Spray into vents of each room.  Turn the AC/Heating system on 'circulate' and let run for 24 hours.  Nok-Out will be circulated throughout the home. Even why dry, Nok-Out continues to be effective.
  • Spray drapes, upholstered furniture with a fine mist of NOK-OUT (be sure that you have tested a small corner of fabric before spraying the entire surface). NOK-OUT evaporates at the same rate as water.
  • Because NOK-OUT contains a light cleansing agent, it may be used on floors, walls and countertops without concern of staining or bleaching the area. When tobacco odors are of longstanding and embedded into the site, a stronger dilution rate is more appropriate for the initial cleaning.  Thereafter, if smoking continues in this area, 8 oz. per gallon of water is acceptable to keep odors eliminated.
  • In closets, where smoke odors have collected on clothing, the clothes should be aired out, and for fabric that is washable, clothes may be sprayed liberally with NOK-OUT, full strength (test for colorfastness first) or you may want to wash in the washing machine with Nok-Out (8-16 oz. per load). Clothing that is 'dry-cleanable' can be sprayed lightly, but remember that NOK-OUT is water based. Spray the entire closet, floors, walls, shelves, and corners. It may be necessary to remove all clothing, mist/spray your garments, and allow to air dry before returning your clothing to the 'fogged' closet.
  • It is important when using NOK-OUT to get into corners and crevices of highly contaminated rooms. More than one application is usually not necessary, but if Nok-Out does not get to the source of the odor, it will not be as effective, and another application may be in order.
  • Spray your hands with NOK-OUT. It will remove all topical odors and keep non-smokers happier to be around you.
  • Spray or wipe your ashtrays with Nok-Out to prevent a build-up of odor molecules. Your whole house will benefit.
  • When the seasons change, and you switch out clothing for the next season, spray each garment with NOK-OUT to prevent a hold-over of tobacco molecules in fabric. Allow to dry completely before returning to the closet.
  • Spray door facings both inside and outside with NOK-OUT to keep tobacco odors from spreading throughout the house.
